SchoolExl ("we", "us") operates the SchoolExl learning platform — including the websites schoolexl.in and learn.schoolexl.in, our mobile applications, and related services (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — name, email address, phone number, and password/PIN when you or your school create an account.
• Learner profile — class/grade, board, medium, subjects, and school (where applicable), used to deliver the right curriculum.
• Learning activity — lessons viewed, practice and exam attempts, scores, progress and mastery data, and interactions with our AI tutors, used to personalise learning and generate insights for students, parents and teachers.
• Payment information — processed by our payment partners (such as PayU and Razorpay). We do not store your card details.
• Device and usage data — device type, browser, IP address and usage logs, used for security and to improve the Service.

2. How we use information

• To provide and personalise the Service (lessons, practice, AI tutoring, progress reports).
• To communicate with you — service updates, reminders and follow-ups by email, SMS, phone or WhatsApp. Messages are sent in line with the consent you provide; you can opt out of non-essential messages at any time by replying "STOP" on WhatsApp or contacting us.
• To process payments, prevent fraud, and keep the Service secure.
• To improve our content and features using aggregated, de-identified analytics.

3. Children's privacy

SchoolExl is designed for K-12 learners and is intended to be used with the consent and supervision of a parent, guardian or school. Parent and school accounts can review a child's information. We do not sell children's personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising to learners. Parents or guardians may request access to, correction of, or deletion of a child's data by contacting us.

4. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service — cloud hosting, content delivery, analytics, payment processing (PayU, Razorpay), and messaging platforms (including the Meta WhatsApp Business Platform for WhatsApp messages) — each bound to use it only to provide their service to us; with your school, teachers or parents as part of how the Service works; or where required by law.

5. Data retention & security

We retain personal information for as long as the account is active or as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted, and systems are monitored.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or withdraw consent for optional communications, by writing to us at the contact below. We will respond within a reasonable time in line with applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
